Editor’s Note
Happy Monday. Skimm HQ is off to observe Memorial Day, but we’re still here to keep you informed. So we’re bringing you three things to know today before we turn it over to our commerce editors, who are sharing their picks from the best MDW sales. I think there are two types of people in this world: those who use sales to get luxury items at a discount, and those who just stock up on essentials. If you’re in the latter camp…so am I. Today, I’m picking up this mini dress you can wear braless and — get this — underwearless. I also like this ingrown hair remover serum (‘tis the season), and some sexier-than-it-needs-to-be spray-on sunscreen. Pamela Anderson circa 1994 would approve. That said, the luxury lover in me is tempted by these tightening-and-brightening “black diamond eye masks.” I also want to get my hands on this cult-favorite Jenni Kayne sweater, which is 20% off today. So I can finally be the chicest (dog) mom at (doggy) daycare drop-off.

In politics: Late last week, President Donald Trump threatened to impose a 25% (or higher) tariff on Apple if the tech giant doesn’t shift iPhone production to the US. He then told reporters that the tariff could take effect by the end of June and would also apply to Samsung and other smartphone makers, saying “otherwise it wouldn't be fair.” It’s unclear how the tariff or a US-based supply chain would affect iPhone prices, though one analyst warned the cost could skyrocket to $3,500. The announcement came as Trump’s clash with another US institution escalated: On Friday, a federal judge temporarily blocked the administration’s attempt to bar Harvard University from enrolling international students, after the school filed a lawsuit that morning.
In US news: Planned Parenthood's Midwest affiliate announced that it is closing four clinics in Minnesota and another four in Iowa and will lay off dozens of staff members in the coming year. In a statement, the affiliate’s president and CEO said it had been “fighting to hold together an unsustainable infrastructure” amid a continuing “onslaught of attacks.” That includes the Trump admin’s decision to freeze $2.8 million in Title X funds for Minnesota (used to provide birth control and services like cancer screenings) and the House’s approval of Trump’s “big beautiful bill,” which includes cutting federal funding for Planned Parenthood.
In culture: Tonight, some of the music industry’s biggest stars will take the stage at the 2025 American Music Awards, airing at 8 pm ET on CBS and hosted, for the second time, by Jennifer Lopez. While Kendrick Lamar leads the pack with 10 nods, Taylor Swift fans have been speculating about a big announcement from the singer, who is up for six awards. Meanwhile, the 2025 French Open began on Sunday, with a farewell ceremony for 14-time winner Rafael Nadal, as well as wins by Frances Tiafoe, Tommy Paul, and Aryna Sabalenka.

My summer uniform tends to be a maxi skirt and a cropped tank, and I like the effortless, West Coast feel of this tiered cotton option. I’d wear this with mesh flats (more wearable than you might think) and a beachy pearl necklace.” —Caroline Goldstein
“I bought these strappy kitten-heel sandals a few months ago and paid full price, but if I had waited just a little bit longer, I could have gotten them during this sale. If you, like me, have at least three weddings this summer and want a shoe that isn’t uncomfortable to wear, try these.” —Margo Ghertner
“I first discovered Amanda Uprichard through one of my favorite influencers and fell in love with her classic designs that were also playful and effortless. However, the price tags always broke my heart. Now that it’s 30% off, I’m so excited to finally add this sleeveless romper mini dress to my cart." — Alessandra Rey
“I’ve never thought much about wearing yellow since I have fair skin, but with butter yellow running rampant in the fashion world, I can’t help but give it a chance. I’m also a baby tee enthusiast, so this Fila tee is the perfect way to dip my toe. There’s also a matching tennis skirt.” —Martha Upton

Anyday 8-Piece Glass Round Dish Set
We get what we’re asking — can a set of dishes really fix your life? Doubtful. But our Commerce Director tested these microwaveable bowls and found that weeknight dinners really were easier. You can make everything in these — from salmon to veggies to rice — simply by popping it in the microwave. The special lids use steam to efficiently cook what’s inside (salmon only takes about four minutes). Plus, you can store leftovers right in the bowl when you’re done and toss the bowls in the dishwasher after that. If you’re looking for a way to cook more at home with less hassle, these are a game changer. Everything on the site is 15% off today, plus an extra 10% off sets like this one.

Another summer, another pair of jean shorts to add to your ever-growing collection. According to Margo, our Commerce Editor, this pair hits that mythical sweet spot between too tight and too loose. Meaning, they offer plenty of ventilation for those hellishly humid days, but still offer more shape than, say, the controversial baggy Bermuda-style jorts we’re seeing all the kids wearing. She already has one pair, and she’ll be damned if she’s not buying another one for 25% off today (plus an extra 15% off with code AFSUMMER).
