“-Core” No More?
Imagine you’re an executive at Shein sitting atop your pile of synthetic fabrics, scrolling to see what new “-core” the girlies come up with. “Cowboy core”? “Coastal grandma”? “Mob wife”? Check, check, check.
For years, the micro trend cycle has been on overdrive, powering the rise of Shein, Temu, and Amazon Fashion. But that engine’s starting to sputter, with far fewer new trends surfacing in the past year. Just in time for TikTok to maybe be banned (but probably not), again.
Now, it’s all about sustainability, “recession core,” and “no buy.” In other words, it's the anti-haul era. Unless you’re stockpiling Labubus.
If you’re feeling the microtrend fatigue, here are some summer wardrobe tips we’re leaning on instead.
